What was the goal for this EP?

This EP, 'Weeks', was a experiment on exploring tension by varying the following elements in ways that may not be commonly done in most synth-pop (e.g., outside of adjusting the cut of a synth in a build on top of a snare fill for a transition). (in the mix /clarity and muddiness/) | (in the arrangement /contrast and cohesion/) | (in the timing /quantized consistency, loose live playing and manually offset/ | and the timing (or lack of) resolve). 'Looking Back' and 'With the Best Friends' are the most traditionally arranged, but the latter begins to introduce some more 'mud' into the mix and flow. The EP become more 'loose' with these elements as it progresses, with 'Weeks' being the most 'rough' in these aspects, and 'Up of the Ground', slowly introducing some more consistency back into things. 'All These Years' is intended to serve as a clear contrast (i.e., 'palate cleanser') between the feel of tracks 3-5 and the final track, 'Climbing Hand in Hand', which is the synthesis of the first EP's style and this EP's experimentation.
